The complexity of Henan geological conditions for mine construction are well known in China, with deep burial, high ground temperature, high ground pressure and large quantities of gas and water. In general, geological conditions of mine projects are complex. With tireless efforts of the technical staff, the Company formed its own distinctive features in techniques for design of mines under complex geological conditions, and has played a leading role in China in such technical fields as planning of modern mining areas, deep shaft design, wall design of deep freezing shafts, support of deep mine roadways, expansion of large inclined roadways and underground water treatment. Especially in wall design of deep freezing shafts, the Company applied such advanced technologies as composite shaft walls, compressible layers and high-grade concrete relatively early. Since the late 1980s, the Company has undertaken the design of deep shafts and deep freezing shafts of more than 10 pairs of large and medium-scaled mines. The maximum topsoil thickness is 530m, and the maximum freezing depth exceeds 800m. The Company has made several deep freezing records in China. For Liliangdian Mine of Zhengzhou Huayuan Coal Industry Co., Ltd. designed by the Company, the freezing depth is 800m, and the design scale is 2,400,000 ton/year, making freezing records in mines under construction in China.
